An exciting opportunity not to be missed! City of Wolverhampton College is looking for an Assistant Sports Coach to join our team based across our College Campus. You will join us on a part time, permanent basis working 5 hours per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £10 per hour. The role: As our Assistant Sports Coach you will deliver a range of sports and physical based activities, as part of a coordinated drive towards improving the health and wellbeing of every student at the City of Wolverhampton College. Key responsibilities of the Assistant Sports Coach: - Assist the Sport Team in delivering inclusive sports activity sessions at the 3 main college campuses. - Transport learners to and from venues for any forthcoming competitions. - Facilitate regular coaching sessions with learners. - Encourage participation in sport and active recreation among targeted groups. - Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of the Active Colleges initiative. - Be committed to issues of equal opportunity and diversity and be able to incorporate these in your work - Ensure that all duties provided are in accordance with the Colleges Equality and Diversity policies and procedures. - Ensure the required health, safety, welfare and supervision of participants throughout sessions including child protection policies are carried out. - Undertake any necessary training that may be deemed relevant to the role. - Positively encourage and assist people to access and join sport and leisure clubs that will assist their growth or to help them to simply participate. - Ensure regular feedback to line manager on learners progress. - Encourage participants to develop further through the pursuit of voluntary or leadership training/opportunities. Experience and skills required of our Assistant Sports Coach: Essential - A recognised national governing body qualification in the sport/physical activity you intend to lead on.  - Experience in leading or delivering sports or physical activity based sessions. - An ability to plan, deliver and evaluate sports/physical activity sessions effectively. - Hold a valid Driver’s Licence with Category B - A clear understanding of effective health & safety and child protection practices when conducting work associated with sport and physical activity based sessions. - Knowledge relating to the various issues affecting participation in sport/physical activity. - Experience in a leadership or coaching capacity. - Experience of working with and/or mentoring young people. Desirable - First Aid qualification - SCUK awareness workshop - To work well individually and as part of a team. - A minimum of 1 year experience in a leadership or mentoring capacity. - Experience of sports development themes and current issues.
