Overview

Our aim is to create better places for people across the UK to work, live & travel whilst achieving zero harm to our people, the public & the environment and we believe that to do this we need to have the right culture & behaviours in place.

We are now looking to appoint a Health & Safety professional who can partner with our Operational Directors & provide a proactive, professional and consultative approach to Health & Safety.

The Waste Treatment business operates 4 integrated waste treatment facilities in Yorkshire, Cambridgeshire, Buckinghamshire and Isle of Wight. As such this role can be based out of anywhere in the UK, but candidates must be able to travel as required to each site.

As a Health & Safety Business Partner you will support the senior levels of our business to formulate effective compliance and improvement plans aligned to Amey's Health & Safety strategy and those of our customers. You will act as a commercially aware, focused & business minded partner for Health & Safety, collaborating with the leadership teams to help ensure a collective vision that extends beyond health and safety systems and compliance and focuses on our people and their behaviour to help create a positively reinforced learning culture.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for ambassadors and role models for the HSEQ function who will utilise their business acumen, engaging communication and influencing style to promote Health & Safety and provide expert support across our leadership team.

Ideally you will be a 'Chartered' Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) however, the essential minimum professional requirements should be GradIOSH and working towards being Chartered. You will also have a proven track record in delivering sustainable improvement within a contract driven environment.

The Health & Safety business partner will have:

  • Excellent knowledge of health and safety requirements;
  • Previous experience of HHLR (high hazard low risk) operations, in particular DSEAR;
  • Proven track record in dealing with regulators and other stakeholders.
  • A chemical or process engineering background is strongly desirable.

    The successful applicant will have a bespoke development plan created for them, aimed at maximising their effectiveness in the role which will represent a genuine commitment to achieving a step-change in value-added support to Amey.
