1-1 Maths/Science Tutor, Wigan/St Helens (Billinge/Orrell/Rainford)

The Education Network is Cheshire's leader in providing 1-1 Tutors to students who are not accessing full time education. We work directly with mainstream, SEN schools as well as 6 education authorities and this is expanding at a rapid rate, specifically within the South West part of the Wigan (Billinge/Orrell/Rainford) As such we are looking to build upon our current bank of 1:1 English/Maths & Science specialist Tutors. You will have a proven track record of teaching KS3/4 students Maths and or Science either on a 1-1 basis or within a classroom environment.

Many of the students we support on a 1-1 basis have mild/moderate learning difficulties and/or SEMH. Students maybe awaiting a new school place, be on a short term or permanent exclusion from school or moved borough and no suitable provision is available. We also support students who attend PRU's who are on a part time/alternative provision timetable etc.

Students are usually highly dis-engaged, having not attended school for some time and as such can display challenging behaviour, or may have certain emotional barriers to learning. As a result, we are seeking Tutors with a background in working hard to re-engage students back into education, who have a flexible approach and are resilient to facing challenging types of behaviour. Tuition will usually take place at a local library/children's centre, at school or at times in the home (with appropriate adult present)

This can be a very rewarding role and suits Tutors who are seeking a part time table to possibly compliment another part time role, childcare commitments, studies or simply just because you prefer to teach on a 1-1 basis. (We however cannot make any guarantees of a certain amount of hours/students per week and our business is solely reliant on the requests of our schools and LA's so durations are un known - however we are very busy!)
