Senior Manager Role within Macquarie’s Global Financial Crime Risk team working alongside the Global Sanctions Lead.  The role is based in London.

Key responsibilities of the Global Sanctions function include management and maintenance of Macquarie’s global sanctions framework, oversight of sanctions screening controls and providing sanctions advice on clients, transactions and the impact of new sanctions. 

The scope of the role is broad and covers governance, advisory, solutions, monitoring & assurance and training. 

Key aspects of this role include:

  • Day to day advisory to key stakeholders on the sanctions risks associated with new and existing clients, complex transactions and the impact on Macquarie of new sanctions
  • Periodic review of sanctions policies, procedures and guidance documents, including ensuring these are embedded into relevant operating procedures
  • The annual risk assessment process, including reviewing the methodology to ensure sanctions risks are adequately identified and assessed.
  • Oversight of sanctions controls, including both name and payment screening, ensuring these are operating effectively and are in line with regulatory requirements and expectations 
  • Periodic monitoring and assurance of sanctions related controls within the business and support functions
  • Developing a sanctions training and awareness program, input to global financial crime on-line training and delivering targeted face-to-face sanctions training

 

To be successful in this challenging and varied role, you will be degree qualified, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in economic sanctions compliance working in an equivalent financial services institution. You will have strong OFAC, EU & UK sanctions knowledge and the ability to analyse and interpret regulatory and technical information.

An understanding of payments initiation, validation and implementation of sanctions screening solutions and processes, would be an advantage as would knowledge of investment banking products and services.

Strong written and verbal communication skills (including presenting to senior stakeholders) are essential for this role, as are strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities whilst being able to work both independently and as part of a team.
