Bournemouth & Poole College has an exciting opportunity for a driven and committed Work Placement Officer – Foundation to join their team in Poole. You will join on a part time, permanent basis working 18.5 hours per week and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £17,914 - £19,978 per annum.  Bournemouth & Poole College are the largest provider of further education and apprentices within the area. The Work Placement Officer – Foundation role: You will be responsible for sourcing, preparing and placing students on work placements and work related learning for all full-time students on Study Programmes. This role will involve building strong relationships with employers to explore opportunities for student work placements, to liaise with employers regarding candidate suitability, plan and carry out visits to students on work placement and evaluate work placement impact on student learning, progress and destination. As our Work Placement Officer – Foundation you will: - Build strong relationships with employers and other organisations to explore opportunities for student work placements and liaise on candidate suitability. - Visit student groups and prepare them for work placement with curriculum staff and BASE team as appropriate. - Guide and support student learning/training activities in relation to placement activity. - Plan and carry out visits to students on work placement, ensuring students complete a learning log whilst on placement. - Liaison with the curriculum staff and placement provider is an essential part of this activity. - Respond to queries, problems and complaints regarding placements. - Evaluation of work placement impact on student learning, progress and destination. - Under appropriate direction, supervise, guide and support student learning activities on relevant programmes. - Respond to/support student/parent/carer/employer concerns, problems, specific support needs (liaising with Student Support as and when necessary). - Review students’ progress at regular intervals giving appropriate feedback. - Monitor and record student work placement and attendance using ProMonitor. - Liaise with employers, provide support and keep them informed of their students’ progress. The ideal Work Placement Officer – Foundation will need: - Knowledge of the skills and personal qualities needed by students for the employment sector/organisations. - Experience of working with students and an understanding of how to integrate vocational practice and academic study. - Skills in assessing the progress of students. - Confidence and experience dealing with external customers. - Ability to work cross organisation at multiple levels. - Commitment and enthusiasm in helping students with their personal development. - Reliability and integrity to ensure high standards of professional conduct. - Excellent written and oral communication skills. - Competent level of Microsoft Office. - Capacity to cope with change and resilience to see developments through to successful outcomes.
