Job Details
We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join the project team on an in-construction biomass power station. This is key role, at the heart of the success of the project, and will be based on-site in Teesport, Middlesborough, reporting to the project Finance Director.
Working closely with the Green Investment Group (GIG) Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) team, the successful individual will run the day to day finances of the power station and will hold responsibility for the finance function delivered via an outsourced provider. You will oversee the financial performance of the project, including monitoring monthly reports and management accounts, and prepare monthly project performance commentary. In addition, you will be required to manage the monthly cash flows and working capital, including foreign exchange hedging, with general responsibility for tax reporting and filing.
Working closely with the project team, you will produce cash flow projections and ensure that model inputs have been reviewed, challenged and are consistent with other work streams, ensuring financial assumptions provided by the project team have been appropriately reviewed.
To be successful in this role, you will have 5+ years of post-qualification experience and hold an accounting qualification with sound technical accounting skills (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) and a strong academic track record, with a Bachelors or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Law or Engineering. You will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of IFRS and have some direct experience of hedge accounting, having worked in an audit firm or in the Finance team of an energy business. Experience of financial management or control of renewable energy projects or other energy sector investment, project finance or financial portfolio management is highly desirable, as is a keen interest in the renewable energy sector.
We are looking for a self-starter with an aptitude for problem solving and a proven ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment. If you are a team player, with good people management skills and the confidence and ability to liaise at all levels, we want to hear from you.

We believe in providing a positive environment for all our staff that is innovative and inspiring. For our female staff, Macquarie’s senior leaders are actively involved in increasing the representation of females in management positions.
