Job description

We are looking for a self-motivated Executive Commercial Assistant to provide personal assistance support to the Market Lead.

You will be joining a high-profile area of the team providing a broad range of corporate support to the Cross-London Market senior leadership team. You will be expected to lead defined areas of work, taking ownership of process, outputs and outcomes.

The role provides a great opportunity to develop a range of project management skills.

The team sits within Passenger Services in the Department for Transport’s Rail Group. Passenger Services is responsible for ensuring the successful development, specification and procurement of franchises and the day to day management of franchise contracts. Our aim is to deliver a world class service for passengers. We make sure that passengers get the services they need and deserve, that taxpayers get value for money, and that the benefits of investment in our railways is maximised.


Your key responsibilities will include:

• Providing PA support to the Market Lead including diary management
• Supporting the commercial team in the effective management of franchise agreements, working flexibly across the team as required
• Business / Project Plan maintenance, including identifying and monitoring dependencies and workstream progress
• Developing and maintaining risk registers
• Taking minutes of external meetings and tracking actions through to completion.

About you

You have previous experience of providing a range of administrative support to deliver business results. You are proficient with the use of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel packages.

You are highly motivated and enjoy taking the initiative to rapidly deliver and prioritise multiple workloads. You are extremely organised, with a high attention to detail and display a proactive and responsive approach to unexpected change. You are a team player with the capability to co-ordinate and collate information from multiples teams.

You are a confident communicator with the ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. You maintain confidentiality at all times and demonstrate discretion towards sensitive information/data.

This vacancy is using Success Profiles, and will assess your Behaviours, Strengths and Ability.

The sift is due to take place 28/11/2019.

Interviews/assessments are likely to be held between 11/12/2019 - 17/12/2019.

We will try to meet the dates set out in the advert. There may be occasions when these dates will change. You will be provided with sufficient notice of the confirmed dates.

Should a large number of applications be received, an initial sift may be conducted using the lead behaviour. Candidates who pass the initial sift may be progressed to a full sift, or progressed straight to assessment/interview.
