What is the purpose of this role?

To carry out specialist sampling and testing of materials for Amey OW Limited in accordance with laboratory procedures, to UKAS standards where applicable.



What will this role involve?

  • To carry out laboratory testing and site duties in accordance with BS EN ISO 17025 ensuring that UKAS accreditation is maintained.
  • To carry out laboratory testing of aggregates, bituminous materials, concrete, soils and miscellaneous items, through all stages from sample reception to computerised production of results.
  • To carry out site sampling of aggregates, bituminous materials, concrete, soils and miscellaneous items, including computerised production of results and maintenance of records.
  • To undertake effective and efficient operation of towed and hand held diamond drilling equipment on site locations.
  • To undertake density measurement of soil and bituminous material by nuclear density gauge, following a medical examination and training.
  • To carry out construction quality assurance geotechnical duties as required.
  • To ensure personal safety on construction sites by complying with health and safety legislation and company procedures.
  • To undertake the duties of the Senior Technician to cover for absence if required.


What are we looking for?

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or similar in relevant subject.
  • Driving Licence. Trailer licence major advantage

Skills

  • Written and oral communications.
  • Awareness of customer care, dealing with the general public and customers and or their agents.
  • Ability to read drawings
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Experience in Computers and computing.
  • Health and Safety legislation.
  • Experience within the the civil engineering industry is beneficial.
  • Maintenance of machinery
