As Safeguarding Coordinator, you will play an essential role within ActionAid UK.

ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. Our dedicated local staff are changing the world with women and girls. We are ending violence and fighting poverty so that all women, everywhere, can create the future they want.

We will look to you to support the co-ordination, monitoring and reporting of safeguarding concerns both for cases in the UK and for those reported by UK staff in countries where we are working / funding.  The latter being in collaboration with the Global Safeguarding Team.

Working in partnership with the Internal Communications specialist you will have the opportunity to produce internal communications content that inspires trust and engagement with our safeguarding approach.

You will support the design and delivery of learning and awareness-raising activities to ensure we are continually upskilling colleagues in terms of safeguarding; helping to embed the approach into all our activities.

You will also assist with stakeholder management during investigations; this will include coordinating meetings and interviews and liaising with panels and practicing and promoting good record keeping.

In order to be successful within this role, it is essential that you have demonstrable experience in and a commitment to at least one of the following; Safeguarding, protection, Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and Gender Based Violence (GBV), gender justice.

You must also be able to demonstrate the ability to work with highly sensitive material in a confidential way and to show empathy for the challenges’ survivors face in reporting Safeguarding concerns and the pressures Safeguarding investigations place on all stakeholders, including those accused of misconduct.

It is essential that you have excellent self-awareness and that you understand the importance of self-care. You must be able to uphold ActionAid’s values, including our commitment to ‘My Feminist Behaviours’, our survivor-centred and intersectional feminist approach to safeguarding, and a Human Rights Based Approach.

If you have this skill set and think that our values and approach aligns to your own, we look forward to receiving your application.

Please note that this role is being offered as a 12 month fixed term contract and is for 21 hours per week (and we are flexible as to how this might work).

ActionAid UK is committed to having a diverse workforce and therefore encourages applications from the BAME community, LGBTQI+ community, and individuals with a (dis)ability.
