The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) is seeking a customer focused Licensing Account Manager to manage the licensing service for its broad range of maritime data products. This is a varied role where you will ensure the reuse of UKHO’s intellectual property complies to licence agreements, whilst also developing customer relationships to grow existing and new accounts.

UKHO surveys and charts the world's oceans in order to provide geospatial data to inform maritime decisions. We work with a wide range of data suppliers and partners to support maritime navigation, safety, security and marine development around the UK and worldwide.

ADMIRALTY Maritime Data Solutions is our market-leading brand, used by 90% of ships trading internationally and relied upon by mariners for safe navigation.  We are continually evolving to ensure marine geospatial information is available to the widest number of users for a wide variety of uses.  Enabling the prosperity of our blue economy and the ongoing sustainable development and use of our oceans, seas and marine resources.In order to continue doing so it is vital we ensure the reuse of our intellectual property is managed correctly.

Key tasks for this role will include:

  • Processing applications for rights to reproduce UKHO intellectual property.
  • Managing and developing the on-going relationship with existing licensees.
  • Ensuring compliance of assigned licensees with all terms and conditions of their licence agreements.
  • Maintaining an effective, efficient and professional licensing service to external re-users.
  • Supporting the Licensing Manager to maintain a relationship with each custodianship organisation.
  • Working with new and existing licensees to identify new market opportunities and encourage licensees fully to exploit the re-use of UKHO’s intellectual property in accordance with UK Government policy.

You will also provide a secretariat support service to related steering committees and conferences, including supporting event logistics, acting as secretary at meetings and producing meeting reports.

To be considered for this role you must be able to evidence providing a customer focussed service, combined with an understanding of data distribution and licensing principles. You will also need to demonstrate experience of developing successful working relationships with partners (ideally in a commercial environment).
