Police Community Support Officers (Succession Planning) Warwickshire The closing date for this succession planning is 12 noon on Thursday 5th December 2019 In line with our 2019 succession plan we are opening our doors for recruitment once again for Police Community Support Officers (PCSO), but on this occasion we would like to create a holding list in readiness for future full time and part time vacant positions and particularly looking to fill posts within Rugby and Nuneaton areas. Following the success of our last round of recruitment we would like to enhance our succession plan to better provide for the Warwickshire area, creating the perfect opportunity for candidates who would like to become a PCSO, within the next 12 months. We are asking candidates to complete an application form, this would be followed by shortlisting, and if successful invited to an interview. Those successful at interview, the recruitment team will proceed with all pre-employment checks including references*, vetting and medical checks. Following the completion of all pre-employment checks candidates will then be notified when a vacancy becomes available in their preferred locations with a verbal offer of employment. *subject to approval from applicant. Generic PCSO The main purpose of the role is to work within identified communities to enhance safer neighbourhoods and provide reassurance in order to reduce both crime and the fear of crime. Main Responsibilities: Conduct high visibility uniform patrol in accordance with the National Intelligence Model (NIM) Act as a focal point for the community, acting as a problem solver Support regular police officers and community groups in building and maintaining community relations by providing a service that is responsive to local needs Use powers of enforcement in a discretionary manner to enhance the quality of life of local residents Provide co-ordination of crime prevention advice and techniques Act as a focal point for the collection and appropriate dissemination of intelligence in line with the NIM Develop strong working relations both inside and outside of the police service and with partner agencies to achieve common goals To undertake the duties of a Traffic Warden only in relation to exercising the power to deal with Obstruction Offences. Ensure integrity, fairness and consideration or the needs of others are incorporated into the daily duties and relationships with colleagues To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required. Experience/Skills: Grade A-C GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics Dealing with members of the public including dealing with confrontational and conflict situations Gathering and analysing information in order to solve problems Good customer service skills and excellent interpersonal skills IT Literate Ability to work on own initiative Special Conditions The focus of these duties may vary according to the specific posting The duties of this role involve Shift working, prolonged periods of walking and cycling and a requirement to wear a uniform and protective clothing.
