The role

Willmott Dixon is now looking to expand our team in Leeds with a dedicated Sustainability Manager, as part of our Process Improvement team and reporting to our Director responsible for sustainability you will work with our fast moving and dynamic team. Responsible for our Northern business across 4 offices, you will ensure that sustainability is embedded at the front end of the business and forms a key aspect of our work winning strategies.
This role is a chance to join a business with a strong ongoing commitment to sustainability. You will also have a lead role in the practical application of our 10 point sustainable project criteria, ensuring this adds value to our projects. You will be working in a time-challenged environment that values flexible and innovative thinking.

Strong communication and relationship management skills are essential, coupled with an ability to influence through others as well as supporting and coaching the teams within the department.


Key responsibilities

* Promotion of sustainability in preconstruction
* Provide sustainability expertise and support across all functions of the business, including our design, commercial and operations departments as required
* Provide sustainability input into the bid process
* Adding value to projects through collaboration with internal and external regional networks
* Champion sustainability to ensure a consistent approach with the company's sustainability objectives including themes such as embodied carbon, circular economy and biodiversity
* Facilitate sustainability workshops at project commencement
* Ensuring continuous improvement and relevance of the role through independent research
* Raising awareness/ upskilling by organising CPD sessions
* Develop case studies from flagship projects that reflect innovation and expertise to enhance external relations and share best practice across the business
* Coordination of central sustainability reporting to the LCO Director responsible for Sustainability.
* Technically review and ensure our approach to delivering certifiable environmental assessment methodologies (e.g. BREEAM) supports cost and efficiency saving opportunities
* Analysis of root cause, business weakness' and strengths to ensure focused support
* Identify future legislation and government requirements and assess effect on business
* Analyse KPI's across region - identify trends and anomalies and focus support and business focus where required


Essential Criteria

* A background in sustainable management practices
* Subject matter expert and ideally in the built environment
* Relevant degree (or science degree)
* Knowledge of the construction industry
* Working knowledge of BREEAM, LEED, SKA etc.

Desirable Criteria
* Experience of applying for and achieving funding for innovations on project
* Broad experience across other industrial sectors
