Our client manages council housing in Sutton. They are revolutionising the way they communicate and engage with their employees, stakeholders and customers across all channels enhancing their reputation as a great service provider and employer of choice.
They now have an opportunity for one part-time Housing Support Officer (18 hours per week).
The role is based within their service in Sutton, which is a managed service funded by the London Borough of Sutton and established to work with the most vulnerable of their residents requiring a higher level of support than their current Independent Living Service can provide. It offers targeted housing support service for people over 55 on a number of issues. Residents are supported to live in their own homes for as long as possible and the team works closely with statutory and voluntary services to help ensure that this is achieved.
About the role:
You will work as one of four officers providing a community based support service to the borough’s older residents helping them to live a full and independent life. You will have your own caseload and visit residents in their homes across the borough. Your target will be to improve the quality of life for residents in a number of areas, including home and environment, mental and physical health and well-being, income maximisation and managing their finances. You may have to attend and arrange best interest meetings for residents and accurately sign-post where necessary. Your ability to work with spreadsheets will also be a requirement of the role, as will an ability to write caseload reports.

You will be a team player with a willingness to offer excellent customer service. Your positive mind set and can do attitude will help to bring about real change in the lives of some of their most vulnerable residents. Your knowledge of welfare benefits will be an advantage as will your ability to work alone and on your own initiative.
You must be used to managing risk and developing care plans and be confident and mature in outlook. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to gain the trust of residents is a must.
You must be a car driver/owner and agree to apply for an enhanced DBS.
