Greenacre Recruitment has partnered with a local housing provider within the Broxbourne area to help source them an experienced tempoary Income Officer.
The successful candidate will provide a responsive income collection service, which has positive and lasting impact on customers
The Role:
- To effectively manage all rent accounts to ensure that income is maximised, and designated performance targets are met in association with management and/or care and support services, including visiting customers in their own homes, signposting to welfare benefit advice and debt management.
- To negotiate payment agreements after completing income and expenditures with customers making repayment plans, identifying where possible any gaps in benefit.
- To follow policies and procedures and fully utilise ICT to log a record of actions, agreements and conversations and maintain effective records to demonstrate a clear audit trail.
- To liaise effectively with customers, relevant housing benefit providers and Department of Work and Pensions through writing, phone calls and face to face meetings to ensure that benefit and debt issues are effectively resolved.
- To contribute to the sign-up process including carrying out affordability assessments.
- To establish and maintain effective relationships with all internal departments and work closely with the neighbourhood team to ensure joint action is taken where appropriate.
- To establish and maintain good relationships with our customers.
- To ensure that appropriate legal action is taken to recover debt including application to court and representing the organisation within the court. This will include carrying out the eviction process where necessary always adhering to the pre-action protocol
- To build proactive partnerships with external agencies including Citizens Advice and Court Service.
- To contribute to the development of service policies and procedures and the implementation of improvement plans where applicable.
Skills and experiences:
- Experience working with universal credit in an income related role
- Welfare reform experience is necassity
- QLX experience
- Knowledge of relevant housing legislation
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Representing an authority/association in County Court
This is a part time position for initially 3 months starting as soon as possible for the right candidate
