The Commercial team sit within HM Treasury and lead on all major HMT contracts, as well as leading on the delivery of sustainability savings. We are a source of expertise to the wider department and act as a point of escalation to resolve any commercial issues.

We are looking for a person with the skills and motivation to engage positively with all our suppliers, get the best value out of our contracts and work closely and collaboratively with our partners at all levels. You'll have the confidence to work without close supervision, and you'll be encouraged to develop your own style and approach.

The team has oversight of over 40 contracts, providing a wide spectrum of services. Your commercial expertise will help design the department's strategy for service delivery. No two days are the same in this role, so you'll need to be flexible and committed, and not afraid of surprises!

Our ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and proactive approach. You will be expected to:

  • Provide a commercial assurance role for all commercial and contractual changes raised.
  • Maintain and own formal channels of communication with suppliers, identifying and resolving commercial issues.
  • Manage suppliers against their contractual SLAs/KPIs, ensuring contractual obligations are met, and all contract related risks or issues are addressed.
  • Lead the commercial elements of all procurements and supplier negotiation processes to ensure legally and commercially sound outcomes.
  • Review and analyse supplier spend, identifying areas for saving and efficiencies.
  • Build professional and effective supplier relationships and contract management initiatives within the team.

Your personal drive will ensure that you can work unsupervised whilst having great team working skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills are also critical. A Contract Management qualification such as CIPS or IACCM would be an advantage in this role but is not essential.
