Position: Dementia Support Worker
Location: Exeter, Devon
Contract type: Part Time, Permanent
Hours: 28 per week
Salary: £11,978 to £12,462 depending on skills and experience

About the role:

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills to join our team. This exciting role is part of the Devon and Torbay Dementia Adviser service which provides information and support to people with dementia, their carers and wider family or friends.

As a Dementia Support Worker, you will have the rewarding opportunity to provide information and support to people with dementia and their carers; helping them to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and put them more control of their lives. The service provided is unique to each service user as it is based upon their personal circumstances and support needs.

In this role you will also be required to develop professional relationships with statutory and voluntary organisations across South Devon and Torbay in order to deliver seamless support to individuals.

The role operates primarily across South Devon and Torbay and will be delivered in a variety of ways: face to face, by phone, letter or email.

About you:

The successful candidate will need to possess NVQ level 3, health and social care (or equivalent), and understand dementia and the needs of those affected by dementia. You will also have good organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage several tasks at once and keep yourself motivated to perform to meet deadlines. You will be a committed team player, but also have the ability to work independently on tasks assigned to you. To be successful in this role, you will have excellent communication skills and this role requires regular use of IT packages, therefore a good standard of IT would be desirable.
