Job summary

We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to lead on small to medium sized projects and oversee client quality, cost and time goals, leading and managing the wider consultant team and reporting. You will also have internal financial responsibility for delivering expected margins.

Duties & accountabilities:

  • Prepare the project execution plan.
  • Direct a fully informed and motivated team.
  • Manage client relationship on the current project and with a view to securing additional works.
  • Responsible for all client and internal reporting.
  • Produce project programmes and monitor the project in line with those programmes.
  • Ensure progress of the project by creating forums for the project team and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor project costs in line with the approved budget.
  • Manage key project issues to the satisfaction of the client.
  • Manage all consultants and contractors associated with the project.
  • Develop and maintain risk register.
  • Administer the works contract.
  • Manage a change control process.
  • Contribute to the preparation of bids, expressions of interest and capability statements.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a project management and/or construction related discipline, combined with considerable project experience and with an advanced knowledge of role.
  • Rail / Civil Engineering experience
  • Strong Interpersonal skills including ability to manage client relationships.
  • Proven core project management skills.
  • Experience of dealing with customers, clients and contractors.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the property and construction industry (Desirable).
  • Degree or equivalent work experience and hold a professional accreditation with RICS, CIOB, APM or equivalent (Desirable).
