Looking for an advocacy job that’s a bit different? We’re recruiting for someone to advocate the ABI’s work on talent and diversity in the Insurance and Long-Term savings sector.

Partnering closely with our members, you’ll lead the ABI’s award nominated advocacy activity across the industry – coordinating and attending events, commissioning research and chairing our Talent and Diversity Network. You’ll also head our industry talent programme.

 

Like us, you’ll need to be hugely passionate about talent and diversity and keen to drive and effect change in our industry. However, this is not an HR role and you don’t need to be a diversity and inclusion specialist – it’s about having the core communication and advocacy skills needed to effect change.

Your role:

Reporting to the Head of Communications and managing the Advocacy Adviser, your role will include:

  • Collaborating with colleagues on advocacy projects and issues. You’ll devise the strategy for these projects and coordinate the operational delivery and ensure cross organisation support
  • Chairing the ABI Talent and Diversity Network, providing industry insight and useful points of member engagement to shape the ABI’s work. Produce the regular network newsletter.
  • Managing the ABI Talent and Diversity data collection to showcase member efforts in this area
  • Owning the Future Leaders Programme, moving forward the programme of activity for 2020
  • Producing an annual member review and mid-year review.
  • Overseeing the production of the Director General’s key member communication

 

We’re looking for:

 

You’ll need to have tonnes of initiative and be comfortable driving cross-organisational projects. Strong networking skills are a must, along with the commercial savviness to identify and build influential relationships. As you’ll be line managing the Advocacy Adviser and working closely with a range of colleagues and members to deliver projects, we’ll be looking for you to demonstrate an effective leadership style.

  • Prior stakeholder, communications or marketing campaigns experience
  • Ability to produce written work of a high quality
  • Strong networking skills, with the ability to identify key relationships and to build influential relationships with members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead, line manage and effectively delegate to a team, as well as lead and take ownership of a broad and varied remit.
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to coordinate and deliver collaborative work.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships and to interact effectively with senior colleagues, providing advice and insight with regards to your area of expertise.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, especially the ability to clearly articulate arguments supported by convincing evidence.

 

What training and benefits are offered?

On your first day you’ll be met by our HR team for a full company induction. You’ll then have inductions to get you up to speed with anything from Events to how our finances work, plus one to ones with relevant colleagues. Everyone goes on an introduction to insurance course and will receive plenty of on the job training. We host various Staff Learning Events throughout the year and you will be able to attend relevant ABI and industry events.

Additional training will be tailored to your own personal needs and aspirations and we have a range of courses as part of our Learning and Development offering.
