We are currently recruiting for a part time Safeguarding Officer, initially on a temporary basis but with every potential for the position to develop into a permanent position, for the right person

Hours of work and rate of pay:
You will be working 21 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Pay rate between £13.22 – £15.17 per hour depending on your level of experience.
Weekly pay .

Summary:
In essence, we are looking for an individual who can work independently, a self-starter.
Someone who can design and deliver Safeguarding related training (as well as being a good administrator)!
Someone who can be a little flexible in their working hours when required, as training events may occasionally happen at different points during the week (with a very occasional requirement for some evening and potentially weekend work).
There may also be an opportunity to go on a 5 day Train the Trainer Course in the future.

What does the position involve?
Working within the public sector, the main purpose of the role is to assist the Community Services Manager in ensuring all corporate requirements in place enabling the Council to meet it’s safeguarding responsibilities, are adequately discharged.
In addition, you will assist the Community Services Manager in ensuring all activities required by Kent Safeguarding Children’s Board are co-ordinated and acted upon with support and guidance from the Community Services Manager, completing administrative duties at the same time.
You will act as a single point of contact for the organisation for dealing with reports, referrals or concerns about the protection of young children, young people and adults at risk, appropriately, through provision of support to front line staff and liaison with partners agencies (ie. the Police) and consult with external partners on concerns raised and to decide whether to involve Kent County Council as appropriate.

What level of experience are we looking for?
In the ideal world, we are looking for an individual with a couple of years direct experience in the safeguarding field.
Knowledge of the legislation impacting on safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and drivers influencing safeguarding.
Some knowledge of the statutory role of partner agencies in the safeguarding field.
Experience of working with multi agency partnership environment.
Good knowledge of information sharing processes, human rights and data protection.
Experience of or the ability to write clear and concise reports appropriate for the intended audience.

Education/qualifications and additional skills
A Safeguarding qualification is desirable but is not considered essential.
A good level of education.
Ideally a couple of years recent and relevant demonstratable experience.
The ability to work within a busy, professional team, essential
Confident communicating with a diverse range of stakeholders in an articulate manner.
Adaptable and innovative.
The ability to consider and implement new ways of tackling issues.
A customer orientated approach with high levels of customer care.
Able to offer a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
