Paid Volunteer, Befriender & Companion (Contracted Hours), Cheltenham

16 hours per week, £7,550.00 per annum + 35 hours per week, £18,700.00 per annum

£200 Welcome Bonus up to end of December 2019

We are looking for kind-hearted Paid Volunteer, Befriender & Companions in the Cheltenham area of Gloucestershire to join a truly wonderful homecare provider. We are looking for someone who wants a rewarding role where they can make a difference in an older person’s life and work for a company, they can be proud of.

There is no upper age limit for applications, becoming a Paid Volunteer, Befriender & Companion could be perfect for you. We have part-time and full-time roles available in the Cheltenham, Beckford, Cowley, Ablington, Kemble and surrounding areas of Gloucestershire. Experience is preferred but not essential as full training is provided. However, it is essential that you have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

“My name is Sami and I work for a brilliant company and I absolutely love my job. I support older people living in their own homes and help them stay independent. I help with everyday tasks, personal and things that many of us take for granted. My role does include all aspect of personal care including washing and dressing, preparing meals as well as taking them out for appointments or to continue doing the things they love. There are plenty of laughs too.

We enjoy making things special for the older people we visit. We recently had a lady called Kate who was longing to have a final visit to her birth home in Wales for her birthday. Sadly, this couldn’t be arranged due to the length of the journey, so a senior member of staff arranged with her own family in Wales to send a stick of rock from Barry Island. The rock was then given to Kate and she was so happy, as she had not had a stick of rock in many years. Kate made a video recording in Welsh to thank everyone for making her birthday so special. This is the kind of thing that makes my role so rewarding and the feeling of knowing you have helped someone is special, I feel so happy at the end of every day.”
