   Brief Description            

 You will be responsible for informing and engaging more than 2,700 colleagues across the Western route, from Paddington to Penzance.   

Reporting to the senior internal communications manager for Wales and Western, you will develop and deliver dynamic communications across multiple channels.

You will work with colleagues in community relations, public affairs, media and stakeholder engagement to provide a joined-up programme of activities to help deliver our communications strategy. Travel across the route will be required.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop editorial policy and guidelines for IC channels on Western route.
  • Own the delivery of IC content to time and production deadlines, with the appropriate tone, language, content and house style.
  • Support the senior internal communications manager and work closely with the central internal communications team
  • Develop and deliver our IC strategy and production schedules
  • Implement regular reviews of the multi-media internal communications channels to improve effectiveness.
  • Work with IC business partners to deliver internal communications content that meets business objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with other colleagues to deliver “joined up” internal and external messages.

Experience, skills, knowledge, competencies and qualifications

Essential

  • Education to degree level or professional qualification in communications
  • Sound knowledge of strategic corporate communications practices
  • Substantial experience of internal communication
  • Ability to provide guidance on communication issues and develop strategies to support business objectives
  • Ability to influence and impact key decisions at a senior level
  • Ability to shape and deliver key messages to various audiences and their individual needs
  • Editorial/journalist skills

Desirable

  • Experience of project/ budgetary control management
  • Change management experience

We adhere to a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the following pay range:£32740 - £36832
