Looking for Support Workers to work at a specialist school for young adults with complex difficulties, Learning Disabilities and Autism in Swadlincote.

This care croup provides specialist education, care and community support. They support the most complex, vulnerable and hard to place young people and adults. The service works with people with autism, mild to severe learning difficulties, mental health needs and challenging behaviour.

  • £16,633.50 to £19,480pa. (up to £10.00ph)
  • Full time or part time hours
  • Short shifts available suiting school hours
  • 3 week rolling rota

As a Support Worker you will provide specialised ‘person centred’ support in a caring yet productive environment to enable service users with practical life skills and take part in a range of community and home based activities enabling their progress and transition towards a more independent life.

  • Supporting and teaching life skills such as cooking or cleaning.
  • You will support the young people within the classroom and home environment as well as planning and taking part in a range of activities to suit the interests of the young person in your care.
  • This role also involves supporting with personal care and hygiene including toileting, bathing and showering.
  • There are some students with challenging behaviour and on occasions and you will be required to handle this I the appropriate way.
  • Communicating with families

  • Ideally you have worked as a Support Worker for 6 months or more
  • Desirable – NVQ Level 1,2 or 3 in health and social care
  • The home will consider people who has no experience in care if you can demonstrate a motivation behind getting into care and/or have experience of caring for perhaps friends or relatives.
