Job Details

We have an opportunity for a Head of Company Secretariat who will be responsible for managing and coordinating the company secretariat function and activities, including managing the coordination of board papers and the facilitation of board meetings, manage board compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and manage key relationships with non-executive directors, and ensure corporate governance procedures are met.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the company secretariat function and activities, including managing the preparation, review and consolidation of board papers and managing the coordination of board meetings, manage board compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and manage key relationships with non-executive directors, and ensure corporate governance procedures are met.
  • Manage communication, analysis and review activities to support informed decision making and compliance with legislative and organisational requirements and ensure corporate governance procedures are met.
  • Manage key internal and external relationships with the Non-Executive Directors and act as an interface with board management.
  • Manage the performance of employees and train, advise, mentor and coach team members to address competency gaps, facilitate staff development, enhance staff skills and capabilities and ensure that staff are adequately resourced to perform

Knowledge, skills & experience required:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Business Law and/or Law, combined with advanced subject matter knowledge across the function and advanced people management skills.
  • Experience in Company Secretarial matters and/or as a legal practitioner in applying the law to support the implementation of organisational strategies, policies, procedures and programs and/or expert knowledge of the Construction, Property Development, Investment Management and Retirement Living industries and relevant legislative requirements and laws.
  • Previous experience carrying out this role in Regional Head Quarters or Corporate Governance experience would be advantageous
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, technical and analytical skills to support implementation, facilitate decision making, influence and build relationships with key stakeholders.
