We have an exciting opportunity to manage this exceptional high street store where you will be responsible for a team of circa 15 as well as the in-store Post Office. You will be tasked with the successful running of both the store and the Post Office, whilst maintaining cost and managing losses.

Job Description

What you’ll do
The best store managers take real pride in running outstanding stores, thinking of them as their own. Determined to turn every customer’s visit into a great experience, you’ll uphold high standards while driving sales and managing costs. You need to work to strict KPIs, strive for sales targets and keep close track of stock. There’s also the employee lifecycle to think about, from recruitment and training onwards. You’ll take charge of your team’s development, ensuring they’re ready to give great service. If you thrive on responsibility, you’ll love life at WHSmith.

What’s in it for you
You’ve got tried and tested skills. Here, you can use them to the full. We’ll trust you to get things done using your initiative and bringing in new ideas. We welcome innovative thinking – it could open the door to new opportunities. Along with an idea-friendly culture, we offer first-class training. Want more? You’ll also be able to access a range of flexible benefits, including 25 days holiday, generous staff discount, annual performance related bonus, pension and much more!

Who we’re looking for
An experienced retail manager, you already know the ropes. Now you’re looking for an opportunity to show just what you can do. We’ll give you the scope to run your business and make the most of your expertise. You’ll know about P&L, working to budgets, team leadership and encouraging great performance. Above all, you’ll be prepared to roll your sleeves up - watching you, your team will see what customer service is all about. Set high standards that get results, and you’ll go far in our business.

About us
You may know we operate on the high street, in rail and bus stations, airports, hospitals, universities and workplaces. But did you know we’ve been around since 1792 and have over 14,000 employees across the globe and have consistently outperformed other major retailers over the past ten years? We continue to grow by putting our customers first and have a strong culture of innovation and entrepreneurialism.

At WHSmith we love progressing our people, so there are No Limits to where your career can go!

Company

WHSmith started in 1792 with a small news vendor in Little Grosvenor Street, London, followed by the opening of our first bookstall in Euston Station in 1848. We quickly established ourselves as the favoured newsagent, stationers and bookseller opening stores across the UK. From this point on, there has been no looking back.
