Position Summary

We’re on the hunt for a passionate, dedicated and TV-obsessed Social Producer to join our small but fearless UK Marcomms team as we bring viewers the very best in real life entertainment. As a team, we’re responsible for managing and delivering all the fantastic promotional campaigns for Discovery UK’s lifestyle & entertainment brands – Really, Home, Quest Red, Food Network, TLC & Investigation Discovery.

The Social Producer will report into the Social & Digital Manager, but will also be a key member of the wider team, working closely with the Marketing and PR teams to ensure that we have fully integrated campaigns, to showcase amazing franchises like How To Look Good Naked, Ghost Adventures, Sarah Beeny’s Renovate Don’t Relocate, Katie Price: My Crazy Life, and Man vs. Food, as well as a diverse range of other fantastic shows.

Responsibilities

As a Social Producer, your focus should be on engaging and developing our social communities through brilliant creative and conversation. You should always be looking for new ways to connect with our influencers.

  • Work with Social & Digital Manager on overall digital brand strategy and how that ties in with the wider L&E portfolio strategy
  • Assist with working up actionable social and digital plans, setting and achieving KPI’s
  • Lead design, production and implementation of social media campaigns and BAU activity, ensuring integration with broader marketing and communications activity
  • Source, produce, edit and publish content for the brand’s social media accounts
  • Attend photoshoots for big ticket marketing campaigns to capture additional social content
  • Manage the channel’s social communities, reactively and proactively building rapport with viewers
  • Own a live relationship with the audience and deepen their engagement and maximise brand reach
  • Recommend social media tactics to increase visibility, traffic, customer acquisition and retention
  • Work closely with the Creative, Marketing and Commissioning teams on ideation around higher level standalone social content
  • Keep up to date with new platforms and initiatives to be an industry expert
  • Assist with budget management

Requirements

  • 3-4 years’ experience, ideally in the entertainment industry, good opportunity for a junior producer/ community manager looking for that next step
  • A genuine love for reality television
  • Strong copywriting and creative writing skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Community management experience, working across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & YouTube
  • Confidence to propose new and different solutions to existing practices
  • Able to think on your feet & come up with innovative, cross-platform ideas
  • Experience in using social media for content promotion and brand engagement – ideally for an entertainment/TV brand 
  • Ability to identify “sticky” short-form video content, adapt/edit for different social platforms e.g. Instagram vs Pinterest vs Twitter
  • Experience using social media measurement tools to adapt content and optimise engagement
  • Experience with Omniture, Google Analytics are a plus
  • Ability to remain highly focused and flexible while working under pressure on several projects at once
  • Ability to work independently, often under tight deadlines
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to be flexible
  • Highly detailed oriented and organized with keen ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in very fast-paced environment
  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across a number of departments and services 
  • Tech savvy, with CMS and Photoshop experience
  • Experience in using video editing software (e.g. Premiere)
  • Confidence with video equipment for shoots a plus!
