Job Details

Our client is looking for exceptional Support Worker’s with experience of supporting children and young people with complex medical and additional needs.

They provide residential placements, providing direct and indirect care and support of children who have complex medical/clinical needs which could include long term ventilation needs, tracheostomy care, sensory impairments, personal mobility difficulties, communications difficulties.

Position: Support Worker

Location: Ashton Under Lyne

Hours: Full Time, Waking Nights (guaranteed hours), 40 hours per week – over a 7 day rota including daytime, evenings, weekend shifts and waking night shifts

Salary: £8.40 - £9.30 p/h additional paid sleep-ins and additional Bank Holiday pay also available

About the Role of Support Worker:

Being a Support Worker for children and young people means that the people you support need to be cared for as a child first and not a disabled child.

The support worker will carry out a range of interventions involving delivery of care tasks such as intimate personal care, clinical tasks and general support to the children/young people which will be of the highest possible standard, providing support to promote their independence and ensure continuity of care. They will support children in education, social settings and trips in the community.

About You:

As a Support Worker ideally you will have some experience of supporting people with complex needs, although full training will be provided.

You will be a dedicated and empathic person with the ability to overcome difficult situations, setbacks and pressure and a willingness to get things done. You will be able to demonstrate the right attitude and commitment to their ethos and show empathy and sensitivity to the needs of others.

You will have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team and be able to learn and undertake the essential training that is required for the role. A full driving license would also be an advantage!
