The Role
Willmott Dixon's Group communications team plays a key role driving the strategic growth of Willmott Dixon through a range of activities that support business priorities. Working closely with the main board and regional teams, Group communications provides leadership in a number of areas that help Willmott Dixon engage with its many stakeholders as a purpose driven business that collaborates with a wide variety of built environment specialists to deliver infrastructure that supports a society which works for all.
Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the Group Communications Manager plays a key part in strengthening Willmott Dixon's messages, brand values and business systems. This role is for someone with a proven ability to operate in a team environment, liaising with diverse teams, who has an ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
The role requires initiative combined with a proactive and problem-solving attitude to deliver a number of goals, including:

Key Responsibilities
- Expertise with a broad range of communications tools, including websites, brand identity, social media, media relations, intranet, blogs and podcasts
- Lead role on media relations, developing press releases, identify opportunities for media coverage and handling media calls
- Plan and manage the design, content and production of marketing materials that support new business growth
- Create multi-platform content that highlight business specialisms and success.
- Work with teams to ensure communications is integrated with other marketing activities
- Analyse and quality check communications output
- Lead with internal communication engagement using existing channels
- Coordinate Group messages and output with communications managers based across the regional offices
- Manage social media channels and lead in developing new ones
- Oversee brand position and profile on sites
- Evaluate communication activity effectiveness
- Develop a consistent approach towards horizon scanning to better inform and shape communications activity
- Be the main contact for communication strategies with framework partners
- Line management of Communications assistant
Specific responsibilities
Social media management
- Oversee digital engagement strategy to drive traffic to our content and meet support company aims
- Create engaging campaigns that harnesses film, photography and animation within the communication mix on social media
- Scheduling and managing regular posts on current channels
- Validating and quality check on other scheduled posts from the wider team
- Analysis of social media campaign success
- System and account management with social media management tool Orlo
- Lead with brand ambassador workshops
Online press coverage management
- Press newsletter creation / tagging
- Analytics dashboard creation and distribution
- System and account management of the press management system Meltwater
Website management
- Google Analytics goal creation and analysis of website statistics
- Creating quarterly reports looking at effectiveness of output
- Quality control and updates (such as checking case studies have up to date images, completion dates, tense etc)
- Work closely with the IT / Digital team to ensure digital communications platforms are progressive and industry leading.
Essential and Desirable Criteria
Essential experience
- Manager for a similar organisation
- Excellent copy-writing, copy-editing and proof reading skills
- Accurate attention to detail and exceptional standards of written English
- Collaborative, supportive approach to achieving results
- Proven ability to lead communications strategies with demonstrable results
- Creatively portray positive messages to the widest or most relevant audiences
Preferred experience
- In-design experience an advantage
- Previous line management experience
- Good understanding of the construction sector
- Existing media contacts and experience
