"They're excellent to deal with, collegiate in their approach and proactive" – Chambers & Partners

We have an exciting new opportunity for an Associate to join our Banking team in London. The role will have a focus on our Leveraged Finance practice.

Osborne Clarke LLP's banking team is a well-established, in certain cases market leading, practice that has enjoyed remarkable growth, most recently in the City where it is now a 8-partner team. We have strong relationships with all the UK’s major clearing banks, many of the credit funds and also attract high quality private equity-side instructions. We are also fully integrated into OC's fast-growing international network. The team's reputation is particularly strong in the firm's key sectors of digital business; financial services and real estate and infrastructure.

The team advises on leveraged, corporate, fund, growth and real estate financings.

The practice

This role will be primarily focussed on leveraged finance work, an area in which we have a growing profile and in which further strategic growth is envisaged. The successful candidate will also expect to gain exposure to the banking team's other core offerings described above.

The team has nurtured relationships with a number of active financial institutions (including private debt funds) and intermediaries. We advise on senior, unitranche, second lien, mezzanine and PIK loan products, as well as stressed and special opportunities investments. Alongside this, we provide debt finance support to the firm's well-reputed mid-market private equity team in the context of leveraged and management buy-outs, refinancings and exits, as well as advising many corporates.

The team also has significant experience advising on financial restructurings alongside Osborne Clarke's specialist insolvency team.

The team

The UK banking team is located across our London, Bristol and Thames Valley offices and is made up of over 35 lawyers overall. This role will report to Laurie Keel (Partner) in London. Madeleine Clark, also based in London, leads the banking team.

Technical skills and experience

You will preferably have worked on UK and international leveraged finance matters or general banking matters within a stand-alone leveraged finance or banking team at a leading national or international firm.

Due to the nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking to appoint an Associate in this area, although we will consider candidates with more or less experience.

Your career development

Like all our lawyers, you will benefit from our multi-award winning career development programme. At each stage of your career this provides you with:

  • clear expectations of your role and what it takes to progress;
    • high quality clients and work, with early responsibility and client exposure;
    • thorough assessment and individual feedback from a range of experienced colleagues;
    • robust technical training with early skills based development, increasingly tailored to you; and
    • reward for your contribution, progression and potential, rather than PQE or tenure.

Salary and benefits

We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits.
