Position Summary

Discovery Inc has one of the largest TV networks in the world, reaching 2.7 billion subscribers in more than 220 countries and territories. Global Technology & Operations (GT&O) provides technological infrastructure and operations support to ensure audiences can enjoy Discovery's programming around the world and across platforms. Already a leader in the factual and lifestyle genres, Discovery has expanded its core business into new genres: sports, entertainment and kids. Its platforms and product eco-systems are now engaged in terrestrial/free-to-air, online player, OTT products and content development/production companies. Discovery is also a host broadcaster for the Olympics.

At our broadcast facility in Chiswick Park, London, the Broadcast Engineering team support playout operations of free-to-air channels in the Nordic region, and 10 Eurosport channels.

Discovery continues to grow around the world and across platforms. GT&O is building media technology and systems to meet the world class standards for which Discovery is known. Our culture and leadership traits are in evolution as we expand from a traditional linear Pay TV business towards a convergent media and entertainment business that encompasses digital and mobile. Discovery is developing direct-to-consumer relationships, while delivering traditional platforms, with innovative solutions.

Broadcast Engineers work closely with production and operational staff, identifying problems and resolving them rapidly to maintain the highest levels of transmission reliability for our clients.

It's a cross functional role which requires liaison with internal and external clients, collaboration with all broadcast and engineering teams throughout our organisation, as well as working with our systems integrator and other vendors as required.

  • Ensure any open issues are handed over to the following shift

  • Provide daily/weekly updates on developments to Engineering Management
  • Contribute to strategic planning
