The Role

We are currently looking to recruit a Group People, Reward and Policy Manager based in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire. This is a full time position that is being offered on a 14 month fixed term contract basis to cover maternity leave but we are open to considering part-time/flexible hours in this role for the right person.

The main purpose of this role is to ensure a people-focused, high quality service is delivered for the Willmott Dixon Group in ensuring that rewards, benefits, management information, policies and systems are fit for purpose and support Group goals and values.



Key responsibilities include:

  • Investigate new potential Reward/Benefit ideas and provide feasibility assessments. Creation of Board reports where required.
  • Communicate and implement Reward/Benefit initiatives that deliver improvements and value for our people.

  • Maintain and improve the current benefit offering and work with the business to ensure these are aligned with overall objectives.
  • Develop, monitor, reviewand recommend the application of People policies, processes and procedures; taking into account any changes in legislation, consistency, 'best practice' and method of communication. Consolidate and create new policies and processes where needed.

  • Keep up-to-date with all critical, current and emerging employment legislation, assess the impact it has on the business and recommend/implement appropriate solutions.

  • Produce high quality documentation (e.g. T&Cs) to support the People community and managers in enabling them to meet their objectives efficiently and effectively.
  • Play an active role in delivering People projects that drive improved business capability and/or system simplification.

  • Represent the Company in external meetings as required.
  • Support with the production of management information statistics as required.

  • Provide input to projects initiated by other functions/divisions, as required.

  • Supporting the Group People team with operational or administrative duties from time to time.



Essential and Desirable Criteria

Essential Criteria

  • Degree qualified or equivalent.
  • MCIPD with HR generalist experience.
  • Understanding reward and benefit strategies and practices.
  • Understanding the business and balancing commercial needs with people related risks.
  • Working in a highly commercial People/HR role.
  • Good organisational skills, including attention to detail.
  • Being analytical and forward thinking.
  • Strong employment law knowledge.
  • Researching complex people/reward related matters, proposing solutions and minimising risk.
  • Coaching and advising managers.
  • Clear and concise communication and influencing skills.
  • Working as part of a team.
  • Fast-paced dynamic working environment.
  • Working unassisted and using initiative to organise workload.

Desirable Criteria

  • Human Resource Management Degree.
  • FCIPD
