Are you looking for an IT Security Co-Ordinator role? Here at Amey we are recruiting for an IT Security Co-Ordinator to identify IT/cyber threats and plan/implement security measures to mitigate and protect client information and data from deliberate attack/theft and corruption. Based at our offices in Buckshaw, Chorley, supporting 1500 users across 300 MoD sites, you will be working in a team of 20 IT professionals.



Required Experience

  • 2-5 years' experience operating as an IT security coordinator, managing security aspects of IT projects/solutions relating to business systems development, network infrastructure and system interfaces in medium to large scale organisations.
  • Experience of working in environments where security aspects of the design are a fundamental to the solution.
  • Experience in office/business infrastructure mobilisations, system development and business deployment; focusing on security aspects of their design.

Experience of working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.



Previous knowledge

  • Knowledge of Government IT security standards, practices and procedures; including Risk Management and Accreditation Document Sets (RMADS), Good Practice Guides (i.e. GPG13) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) legislation.
  • Knowledge of IT/cyber security standards, e.g. ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials.
  • Knowledge of IT security vulnerabilities, e.g. phishing, malicious hacking/denial of service attacks, spyware etc. and tools/processes used to manage them.
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure, end-user hardware and system applications from a cyber security vulnerability aspect, such as:
    • Business Information systems, e.g. Work Management systems.
    • End user devices; PC/Laptop and Mobile devices; including accompanying operating systems.

Network security hardware, e.g. firewalls and network routers.



Key Duties

Information Security Policies and Procedures
  • Assist with the creation, review and publication of all IT security policies; including RMADS and ISO27001 accompanying all strategic and tactical IT solution
  • Prepare security reports and technical information supporting any security aspects associated with solution design.
  • Investigate security breaches and carry out any corrective actions and recommendations identified.
Security Risk and Issue Management:
  • Identify any risks/threats associated with IT/cyber security, defining appropriate risk strategy for each.
  • Assess all identified IT/cyber risks and threats, developing plans to minimise their impact on the business and supported solutions.
Security Management:
  • Manage and maintain Bulk Data Controls, Good Practice Guide measures, Data Protection Impact Assessments and Statement of Applicability returns.
  • Support the design, build and testing of security measures designed to mitigate security vulnerabilities.
  • Support the defining of business continuity and disaster recovery planning following security breaches.
  • Represent IT security at key stakeholder security meetings as necessary.
Stakeholder Management:
  • Effectively communicate IT/cyber security expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Set and continually manage cyber security measures with team members and other business stakeholders.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of key IT solutions specifically, with regards to Security Accreditation
