The Role

Due to increased workload we are seeking to recruit a Technical Director for Project Management. The successful candidate will provide guidance and leadership to the Project Management discipline and will have extensive experience in the management of high value, complex multidisciplinary projects for varied and demanding clients. They will be responsible for reviewing and further developing our PM processes, where appropriate taking best practice from other parts of Amey and the wider industry.

As a chartered professional, they will develop and implement a system for competence management in the PM discipline, linking competence assessments with personal development opportunities, identifying clear paths to success. They will also drive the attainment of appropriate professional qualifications in the PM community.

This role will offer the opportunity for the right candidate to innovate and use the latest technology to develop themselves and the projects they work on. In a typical week you will:

In addition to typical project management duties:

  • Provide national leadership in the training, mentoring and development of the project management community and drive progression towards professional qualification across the discipline and at all levels
  • Provide direction and leadership to deliver planned growth and recruitment
  • Manage PM templates, tools and processes to ensure consistency and efficiency as well as compatibility with the engineering processes
  • Manage a suitable competence assessment system in the discipline ensuring assessments are undertaken regularly and are linked to progression
  • Develop and implement a continuous improvement process to promote project management best practice throughout the business, keep up to date with standards and client requirements, and administer quarterly standards briefs
  • Work with senior managers and directors to develop and deliver the business plan
  • Be directly involved in the selection of strategic prospects and their conversion to bidding opportunities and provide PM direction and support to the bidding process



We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Are Chartered or are actively working towards Chartership with extensive experience in senior project and programme management roles
  • Have significant relevant experience in the delivery of high value complex schemes
  • Have experience of the development and implementation of PM processes and procedures
  • Have the drive and passion to develop a class leading PM community.
