Job Details

The Water North design team within Amey Consulting are currently delivering an expanding workload for both our Scottish and UK clients. Our existing frameworks provide assessments in areas of flood management and modelling, river engineering, drainage, SUDS and associated Civil design through a complete project lifecycle.

Due to this workload we are looking to recruit a Civil Flooding & Water Engineer to join our established consultancy design team in our office based in South Gyle, Edinburgh.

You will be required to provide support to a Senior and / or Principal Engineer to ensure compliance with all relevant technical standards and the delivery of all specified project outcomes on time and within budget. You will become part of the wider Amey, UK and International, design family providing a range of multi-disciplinary services to our customers, driving value across their asset portfolio. In a typical week, you will:

  • Implement project requirements to fully meet client specifications and relevant standards.
  • Prepare and check design approach, calculations, drawings and documents.
  • Undertake assessments in areas of flood management and modelling, river engineering, drainage and civil design.
  • Carry out site visits and surveys, inspections and work with sub-contractors.
  • Support Senior and Principal engineers within the design team to ensure all compliance and technical standards are met.
  • Take responsibility for the supervision of junior design team and modeller members.

  • We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Degree in either Civil, Hydrology, Water Resources and/or Flood Management related disciplines.
  • Chartered or Incorporated CEng, IEng or approaching this status would be an advantage.
  • Technical skills or qualifications in the following:
  • Flood risk and drainage
  • Surface water management
  • Hydrological studies and methodologies.
  • Infoworks CS/RS/ICM, 1D/2D hydraulic modelling, SUDS design.
  • Feasibility outline and detailed designs.
  • Exposure to working with local authorities, transportation, water authorities and environment agencies.
