The Role

The Manager of Process and Technology will be able to execute operational excellence, team and process transformations, and continuously improve a variety of business processes across Discovery Communications.  You’ll understand and communicate tech trends to management and deliver value by using the best of emerging technology. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple process improvement projects affecting key stake holders in a variety of departments. In some instances, the individual will be responsible for also gathering business requirements for how technology can support the process.
  • Proactively propose new client projects, developing scope, approach and timelines
  • Cultivate relationships with GT&O peers, executives and business partners to understand current operations, and potential opportunities for improvements and technology solutions.
  • Balances the needs of multiple stakeholders in a variety of departments in process improvement projects, ensuring that all impacted parties are actively engaged
  • Utilize standard project methodologies and apply the appropriate tools to the unique projects. Take the lead on process documentation and identifying quantifiable benefits of the proposed improvements
  • Own the successful final project delivery from scope review and kickoff through change management, training, implementation, and follow up
  • Be able to apply critical thinking skills, have proven problem solving skills, and utilize the obtained data to identify and execute process improvement
  • Prepare presentation materials for senior leadership that identifies areas of emerging trends in technology
  • Establish an in depth understanding of Discovery business needs and the emerging technology environment. Identify transformational technologies for how the company collaborates and interacts between employees and our customers.
  • Utilize Six Sigma/lean toolset on projects as appropriate

Requirements

  • Extensive Business process (or related) experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or an equivalent combination of skills, training and hands-on experience; advanced degree a plus
  • Must possess strong leadership skills with focus on execution
  • Lean Six Sigma certification a plus
  • Critical thinker and strong problem solver with ability to frame issues, articulate findings, and present optimal solutions
  • Excellent client interface, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to clearly articulate to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Current knowledge of emerging technology environment
