We are looking for seasoned software engineers to join probably the most exciting Lab in the bank, the Fraud and Auth Lab. You'll excel in finding bugs, designing elegant test automation solutions and collaborating with the wider engineering community to develop top quality products. Although your focus will be using your coding skills to perform testing you will be willing to pick up development and testops/devops tasks too. We need to protect and nurture our applications to give our customer the best and safest experience possible.

Lloyds Banking Group Digital channels have over 12 million active online customers with over 1 billion logons per year. We have many monitoring and prevention systems in place to protect our customers from criminal activity and the Fraud team lies at the heart of delivering and maintaining these solutions. The ecosystem is a complex integration of ground-breaking applications and legacy host systems and the journey from centralised monolith to a more autonomous micro service architecture and teams is underway and within our gift to shape.

What will you be doing?

 

- be part of an autonomous agile team in the Fraud & Auth Lab

- collaborating with Product Owners, Architects and fellow software engineers to design elegant solutions and elegant tests to prove them

- designing and building dependable, intuitive, intelligent automation frameworks that prevent rather than cure issues and also self-healing applications that nurture our frameworks and application code

- developing and improving test integration in the CI/CD pipelines

- maintaining and updating automation frameworks in sprint

- exploring new testing techniques, keeping up to date with industry changes

- contributing to the Confluence Knowledge base to share new approaches and meet Definition of Ready/Done artefacts

- contributing to the wider test engineering community through white papers and presentations

- promoting the culture of agile SCRUM values and leading by example

-Nurturing more junior engineers coaching and mentoring them to help them become great

 

Essential for the Role:

 

The following capabilities are essential for the role.

- Certified to Advanced level through ISTQB as a minimum in both Specialist and Core and ideally to expert level in the Core channel

-High Proficiency in designing from scratch, implementing, and supporting server side development/test automation in one or more of the following coding languages

  • Java
  • Node.js
  • Scripting

-Proven experience in development/test automation of one or more microservice communication technologies:

  • JSON
  • SOAP
  • noSQL/SQL
  • Swagger

 

-Proven experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines from scratch

-Hands on experience implementing Contract testing such as PACT

-Practical experience setting up testing and maintaining Cloud containerised test environments

-Sound understanding of all testing types and how to apply them in practise, including functional, performance and security testing

-Willingness to take on line management responsibilities

-Proven experience removing technical debt from Applications or Testing frameworks

-Proven experience coaching and mentoring more junior engineers to create a highly effective testing capability

-Proven experience building efficient and effective testing process and practises

-Proven experience testing Hadoop Systems involving Cassandra, Kafka and Hive and multi-tier/distributed systems

-Understands OWASP top 10 and how to test them.

-Proven experience testing Fraud Monitoring and Decisioning applications for high transaction volumes in a regulatory environment.
