What?

Willmott Dixon is currently seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Central South construction business based in Farnborough and operating within Berkshire, Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire. The role is to be based on our flagship £85m new build MOD facility near Salisbury and will initially be on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Reporting to the Senior Services Engineer and working closely alongside the electrical project engineer, the successful candidate will directly oversee the installation of the full mechanical packages, leading and motivating the supply chain to ensure our customers' expectations are met and, wherever possible, exceeded.

As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for:
 

  • Establishing standards of quality on site and ensure delivery of a quality build in accordance with the project specifications and project requirements
  • Undertaking the works in the most economic manner to eliminate waste and avoid non recoverable costs and preliminaries losses by monitoring and working to agreed preliminaries budget
  • Leading and motivating the supply chain to achieve the project programme and budget, ensuring effective communication and implementation throughout
  • Understanding the customers' expectations and adopting a professional and considerate approach at all times to maintain good working relations
  • Maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental management
  • Adopting the principles of the Considerate Constructors Scheme and managing community relations
  • Ensuring regular monitoring and reporting on progress, managing potential risks and opportunities, and instigating pre-emptive and corrective actions as required
  • Maintaining continuous professional development to ensure appropriate technical awareness, implementing best practice and driving continuous improvement
  • Contributing to a successful project handover and ensuring defect / snag free completion



Who?

The skills / experience you will need as a Mechanical Project Engineer include:

* A proven track record of the successful delivery of projects
* The ability to control costs, timing and quality in line with targets
* Efficient use of all resources available
* Accurate interpretation of programmes, drawings and technical specifications
* Understanding and appropriately sharing build programmes
* The ability to manage teams including the supply chain, direct employees and consultants
* Minimum relevant level 4 qualification (HNC / NVQ Lv. 4 etc.)
* Appropriate CSCS card
* SMSTS certificate
* First Aid at Work certificate
* Able to travel independently to work
* Experience using Microsoft suite of Office programmes, inc. Excel, Word, Outlook and Project, and Asta Powerproject

(Desirable)

* Relevant degree

*N.B. The successful candidate will be required to pass a high level of security clearance and failure to do so may result in the termination of their employment.
