Position Summary

Business Resilience and International Security is part of the Global Facilities, Real Estate, Security & Travel (FREST) Team. It is responsible for developing and managing cross-division and cross-regional programs that ensure the company has mitigated the risks to staff and assets as far as possible and is prepared to respond to incidents and crisis events around the world.

The Role

The Business Resilience Manager – International, is part of a team responsible for ensuring Discovery offices globally have appropriate crisis and business continuity plans and are ready to respond to incidents and events, to keep staff safe, our business running, assets secure and our reputation intact.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting, interpreting and actioning crisis and business continuity data globally.
  • Working closely with colleagues in Global Real Estate to understand our global office plans, office moves, closures and new locations.
  • Maintenance of the Discovery Business Resilience Management System and associated software platforms.
  • Manage the relationship with our resilience software platform providers.
  • Regular liaison with global Business Resilience Champions (BRCs) in every office, to ensure plans are up to date and staff know what is expected of them during an incident.
  • Assist the regional security and resilience managers with the preparation of Incident Management Team (IMT) training packs and coordinate the delivery of that training.
  • Maintain the correct global office information on the Discovery Resilience Platform.
  • Work with Discovery Productions to help them prepare for disruptions and safety incidents.
  • Coordinate the annual audit by Discovery Internal Audit of the resilience program.
  • Assist with general administrative duties to assist the Business Resilience and International Security team perform its functions effectively.

Requirements

  • Drive, enthusiasm and to be a creative solutions-oriented thinker.
  • Organised and able to multi-task and prioritise a broad workload.
  • Capable of working either independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to build and manage relationships, and instil confidence, with Discovery executives and business partners at all levels and in all cultures.
  • Prepared to work extended hours, sometimes at short notice, to assist in responding to an incident.
  • If no formal business continuity qualifications, willing to learn and undertake training.

Preferred qualifications

  • Crisis and/or business continuity experience/qualifications.
  • Excellent English language oral and written skills, other language skills are a bonus.
