Job description

The Maritime & Coastguard Agency has started an ambitious IT transformation programme that will deliver improved capability across an expanded IT workforce. We seek to improve all technology services whilst supporting the wider business on its own transformation requirements and ensuring IT aligns to their needs.

We are looking for a Change and Release Analyst to support the department within our Southampton Office. You will plan and roll-out software, as well as design and implement procedures for the distribution and installation of changes to the systems and services. You will conduct post release analysis and set the plan for upcoming changes. You will work closely with DevOps and Service Designers.

This role provides you with a phenomenal opportunity to influence key IT functions at the MCA, helping to craft and create an environment that makes a real difference for the UK public.
 

Responsibilities

Roles Responsibilities include and not limited to:

• Execute and support maintenance of the release and change policies, processes and procedures for the MCA;
• Support the Change and release life-cycle across the directorate;
• Participate in the impact assessment of all technical changes ensuring they are understood and technical and business risk is identified and mitigated;
• Support the Change & Release governance boards to ensure the appropriate input from stakeholders;
• Report on the impact of incidents and problems to inform go/no go decisions;
• Gather metrics to support service level reporting;
• Participate in release planning;
• Participate in post implementation reviews to identify improvements to policies, processes and procedures.
• Produce, maintain and communicate the forward schedule of change;
• Provide advice and guidance to project delivery teams;

You will operate to a normal weekday working pattern consisting of a 7.4 hour working day and over the course of a year you will work 1931 net conditioned hours. You will sometimes be required to occasionally work outside of normal conditioned hours, and to work/travel on official duty within the UK and short-term visits overseas.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.
