Customer Service Volunteer

 

Can you spare a few hours a week? Come and join our friendly team based in Wigan and support your local community! The British Red Cross are looking for Customer Service Volunteers in the Greater Manchester area. 

 

Position: Customer Service Volunteer – Mobility Aids

Location: Wigan, Greater Manchester

 

Commitment: We are interested in applicants who can commit to volunteering a few hours a week on any weekday (daytime Monday to Friday) on a regular basis.

 

To volunteer for this role, you must be aged 18+, must live in the UK.

 

The Role

We provide people in your community with wheelchairs on a short-term basis.

Our Customer Service Volunteers use their people and administration skills to serve the public who require a wheelchair or other mobility equipment. Your time will help keep people in your community stay independent by accessing a wheelchair.

 

Activities include:

  • Issuing and receiving wheelchairs (or other mobility aids equipment) using a computer based stock control system.
  • Demonstrating how to use and look after our wheelchairs (and other equipment).
  • Dealing with enquiries from people wanting to borrow a wheelchair (or other equipment) by telephone, face to face and online.

The safety of our staff and volunteers is our priority.  As this is a customer-facing role and due to the current global health pandemic, we are currently unable to accept your application if you are aged 70 or over, if you have underlying health conditions, if you are pregnant, if you are normally advised to have a flu jab or if you live in the same household as anyone in these categories.  We also cannot accept your application if you or someone in your household have received a government letter asking you to shield.
