Job Details

The 23rd of June is International Women in Engineering Day, and Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) will be ‘opening our doors’ to women just like you, inviting you to join us in celebrating this important event!

For the first time ever, we’re hosting an online event to give women from around the network a chance to learn more about our organisation and the career opportunities we offer. GTR is the largest train operating company in the UK, with more passengers, more employees and more trains than anyone else in the country.

As you can imagine, engineering is a major part of the business and we’re always on the lookout for our future stars. So, if you’re someone who likes to know how things work - taking them apart and putting them back together again - then the engineering life may be right for you. Our trains have all kinds of systems, electrical, mechanical, and modern computer control. If you have a passion for new technology and everything electrical, mechanical or engineering. Come explore what we’re all about.

We’re not looking for previous knowledge or experience of engineering, or the railway – just an open mind and lots of enthusiasm. We have range of internal volunteers who will be showcasing their experiences at GTR. We will also be collaborating with Paula McMahon a Chartered Civil Engineer at Sir Robert McAlpine (AM) and Cate Anthony a Tunnel Design Engineer at Dr Sauer & Partners Ltd (PM).

You will have an opportunity to take part in a Q&A session with the Talent Team and Dionne Mckenzie, Head of People at GTR. So please have any burning questions ready. The session will finish with Wendy Robertson, Head of Fleet Infrastructure & Steve Lammin, Engineering Director talking about “Changing hearts and minds: championing diversity in engineering”.

If you’re curious about how our Engineering functions work and would like to know more about the opportunities we offer to women like you, please register your interest below.

We hope to see you on the 23rd!
