Job Title: Head of Policy and Public Affairs

Status: Permanent

Hours: Full time, 36 hours per week

Location: Flexibility, with an expectation that there will be frequent travel to our Leeds and London offices as well as travel across the country/ currently home based

Salary:  £54,838.14 per annum plus benefits

Closing Date: 9am Friday 17th July 2020

Skills for Care is seeking a Head of Policy and Public Affairs to join our newly created Strategy, Impact and Policy directorate.

Skills for Care supports adult social care employers to deliver what the people they support need and what commissioners and regulators expect. We do this by helping employers get the best from their most valuable resource - their people

The role

This new position will play an important part to;

  • Ensure Skills for Care (SfC) is at the forefront of all adult social care workforce policy matters
  • Provide analysis, guidance, advice and briefings on all emerging policy matters to the CEO, Chair and Leadership Team and externally to the adult social care sector
  • Lead the development of SfC’s policy position and supporting colleagues in taking a proactive and consistent corporate position
  • Support the achievement of our organisational purpose by influencing and shaping our business planning process both with key funders and other relevant organisations though knowledge of emerging trends influenced by policy developments.

We are looking for candidates that can demonstrate:

  • Leading policy and strategic development as well as stakeholder consultation processes.

  • Previous undertaking of policy analysis and development in a medium sized private or public sector organisation.

  • Working at an advanced level with national government departments, non-departmental government bodies or other national organisations.
