Support Worker

Do you have British Sign Language skills? Our client is looking for a Support Worker to provide health and social care support to Deaf individuals.

Position: Support Worker

Location: Urmston, Manchester

Salary: £8.89 an hour plus sleep in allowance

Hours: Part Time - Working pattern: 2 x 19.5 hours a week – Subject to a rota, working 22 hours in week one and 16.5 in week two. One-year fixed term rolling contract. You will be expected to work some evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays

Additional Benefits: 25 days holiday per annum, pro rata, pension and sick pay

About the Role:

Our client is currently looking to recruit people who would like to take on the exciting challenge of providing high quality health and social care support to Deaf individuals, many of whom who have mental health conditions, within the Manchester community.

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity, where every day is different!

In this role you will gain recognised qualifications, all staff must, in their period of probation, complete the Care Certificate.

As a Support Worker you will be working with adults at risk, the successful candidate will be subject to a DBS Check at an enhanced level & Independent Safeguarding Adults clearance.

About You:

In order to be successful in the role of Support Worker you will need to bring with you the following skills and experience:

  • Level 2 or above, British Sign Language and knowledge of Deaf Culture
  • Previous experience of working in Health and Social Care
  • A belief in, and positive attitude to the principles of community care
  • A commitment to equal opportunities and the empowerment of clients
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • A person centred approach and values
