Summary

The purpose of this role is commercial & proposition ownership of multiple device acquisition and retention platforms / services across the European region. This is an exciting opportunity to work across all of Samsung's European subsidiaries and through commercial product ownership and partner management shape the future of services within the Samsung European business.

The candidate will be pivotal in driving forward the EU Services strategy, be tenacious in their delivery style and have a thorough understanding of the role of services in the future of mobile. The candidate will actively seek to understand current and future customer needs, integrate that thinking into strategic, tactical and operational activities in order to drive growth in customer value, engagement, retention and ultimately profitability of devices business.

The Services Commercial Propositions Manager will act as a conduit between HQ and local teams across Europe to deliver HQ initiatives to the region, whilst driving economies of scale, collating feedback and recognizing best practice in market to feed up into the global headquarters. Specific categories include, but are not limited to Trade in, Upgrade + and financial services platforms.

Commercial Management - Experience of creating & presenting- business cases and demonstrating ROI.

Financial Services Experience - Either experience within the financial services sector or finance qualifications highly desirable.

Contracts & Negotiation -  Experience of end to end contract negotiation

Project Management - Experience of managing projects and cross-functional teams to deliver on time and in budget

Performance Management - ability to drive virtual teams not necessarily in a reporting line to improve performance and maximize potential.  

Stakeholder management / partnership management - Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate effectively and with varying styles to internal stakeholders and regional partners.

Product Management / Base business management - Experience of managing a customer base (or a subscription base) would be advantageous

To be successful in this role you ideally have:

The ideal candidate will have commercial experience within a digital function in the financial services industry, or within a commercial finance function within the mobile industry, and have a passion for our products and services.

Experience in managing rental or leasing products would be advantageous.

This role will require a self-starter who wants to build strong relationships across the business to drive forward the vision and growth of the services business.

We work with multiple cultures and stakeholders and so an ability to vary style is important, additional languages ​​would be advantageous.

 

  • Roll out of key acquisition / retention platforms & services across the European region. This includes Samsung's own channels (Samsung.com for example) and partner channels (operators, retailers etc).
  • Continued commercial analysis and partner management will ensure that the commercials associated with the platforms are best in class and sustainable.
  • A thorough understanding of customer behavior and the role of services in mobile, will drive you to formulate new business ideas in line with the platform strategy and plan for future growth of this area of ​​the business.
  • Work with local teams to create recommended European HQ (EHQ) guidelines for promotional activity on own channels and with partners.

Collate and formulate EHQ best practice guidelines for proposition, commercials, roadmap and strategy.

Customer Experience:

  • Customer experience should be at the heart of everything this candidate does.
  • An authentic understanding of customer behavior is essential.

Experience of managing a base business, knowledge of churn reduction initiatives, reporting and analysis, would be a key advantage to this role.

Partnerships, Contracts & Negotiation:

  • Own the commercial relationships of pan-European partners associated with the platforms business.
  • Drive commercial deals from start to finish, both internally and externally
  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including a competency in communicating and building relationships with C-level executives.
  • Negotiate the best possible commercial deal for pan-European relationships with a view of delivering commercial benefit to local subsidiaries.  

Set up and manage partner governance processes - ensuring our partners are delivering to agreed SLAs and KPIs.

Project delivery:

  • Deliver multiple projects across the region, driven from HQ and EHQ initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver on demanding timelines

Prioritization skills are essential

Stakeholder management:

  • Manage relationships with European / regional partners and vendors

Manage internal, European and HQ stakeholders across all areas of the business.

Advocacy & SME:

  • Demonstrate advocacy for the entire Services portfolio and become a subject matter expert for associated services across the region
  • Create and implement European wide reporting & analysis of existing performance and market analysis.

Travel:

  • Ability and willingness to travel globally is a must
  • EU travel at least 25% of the time with some travel to South Korea / other non-EU countries to be expected.
