Are you an experienced IT professional with HR knowledge or a HR Shared Services Lead looking for a role that encourages you to think outside of the box?

We are looking to recruit a HR Shared Services Lead who has the skills & tenacity to lead the management of the overall Shared Services change control process and shape future release plans whilst driving the strategic direction of the people agenda within the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

Job description

Duties will include but are not limited to:

• Act as the HR representative at internal and supplier boards to ensuring HR issues are escalated and prioritised appropriately and suitable solutions are agreed with all parties.

• To lead on all HR system changes.

• Work with all stakeholders to gain support for release functionality etc.

• Working with relevant business areas to understand and implement future requirements.

• Liaising with HR team to co-ordinate future system, pay, policy or process changes.

• To lead the management of the overall Shared Services change control process and future release plan.

• Working closely with HR Team, Shared Services Team and business areas to agree, plan and manage testing requirements for all releases and system upgrades.

• To plan and coordinate the delivery of all associated activities.

• To work with business areas to put in place temporary solutions and/ or contingencies as required

• Responsible for the management of the HR defect tracker.

• Lead on the management of the HR Shared Services budget.

• To carry out regular system audits to ensure compliance with HR policy.

• Responsible for providing HR systems updates and progress reports to Boards.

• Responsible for employee and management system access in accordance with GDPR legislation.

• Working in partnership with Information Assurance branch to mitigate risks of data breaches and to escalate and resolve any issues to the appropriate authority.

Coming to us with your advanced IT skills (in test management and coordination) and HR knowledge you will have no problem applying your organisational skills and review our current processes to make recommendations for changes and improvements ensuring our team is providing the best possible service.

Although not directly line managing, you will mentor and guide our enthusiastic and diverse team – All the while encouraging a supportive and inclusive environment. Using your excellent knowledge of HR IT systems, you will ensure that our system meets the business needs whilst making sure that the correct governance is followed.

As an amazing communicator, you will confidently deliver messages in a clear and concise manner to a range of stakeholders applying a tailored approach to your audience.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.

Its responsibilities include coordinating search and rescue (SAR) on the coastline and at sea through His Majesty's Coastguard (HMCG), ensuring that ships meet international and UK safety standards, monitoring and preventing coastal water pollution and testing and issuing Merchant Navy Certificates of Competency (licences) for ships' officers and crew to STCW requirements The organisation is led by Virginia McVea, its Chief Executive, who took up post in February 2023.The MCA are chiefly responsible for the syllabus and national training standards issued by the Merchant Navy Training Board (based at the UK Chamber of Shipping).
