Head of Family Support

Would you like the opportunity to lead the development and delivery of our family support service and have a lasting impact on the issues surrounding gambling related suicide?

Background

Gambling with Lives was set up by the families and friends of young people who had taken their own lives as a direct result of gambling. These were all very normal, bright, popular and happy young folk who had great futures ahead of them … gambling was their only problem.

Research indicates that there are between 250 and 650 gambling related suicides every year in the UK … a minimum of one every working day.

Gambling with Lives aims to:

  • Improve mental health and save lives through raising awareness of the risks to health of gambling
  • Provide support to the family and friends of the victims of gambling related suicide and those suffering gambling addiction

Appointment of a Head of Family Support

The Charity’s family support service is currently delivered by a combination of trustees and freelance therapists. However, as more families have approached the Charity a dedicated staff team has become required.

We are searching for a Head of Family Support who can lead the development and delivery of the service.

The Head of Family Support will quickly become the link between families, the Charity and its delivery partners. To fulfil that function s/he will require strong levels of empathy, highly developed interpersonal skills, a good understanding of counselling practice and the management of a therapeutic team, experience of managing legal advisors, and knowledge of press engagement strategies.

This role presents an opportunity to work with an organisation at a crucial and exciting point in its development. We are looking for a Head of Family Support who shares our passion for the work we are doing. If you want to play a leading part in shaping the future of our services, then we would be delighted to hear from you.

Please download the candidate information pack for further information before you apply. Application is by CV and a covering letter which should indicate why you are interested in applying for the role and how you meet the role requirements.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 6th September. Shortlisted candidates will interview with GwL in the week commencing 14th September, followed by a second round of interviews with candidates who have progressed to the next stage in the week commencing 28th September.
