We are looking for an Assistant Project Engineer to assist the Project Engineer with managing the successful and timely delivery of the new Electrical Multiple Unit (EMU) project to support the obligations of WMT within the Franchise Agreement and ensure that the class 730 is delivered in line with the contractual requirements, within the agreed timescales and meets all WMT safety and governance requirements.

You will assist the Project Engineer with the technical aspects of the project, including testing and requirements management against the contractual requirements.  You will also participate in the review of all project documentation and coordinate feedback to Bombardier.  In addition you will interact with external engineering interfaces and ensure that relevant parties and stakeholders participate in necessary decision making processes.

You will bring with you the following skills and experience:

  • Engineering knowledge – engineering qualification required
  • Relevant industry experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of the European and Railway Group Standards and other railway specific engineering standards
  • Experience and a strong appreciation of importance of stakeholder engagement, and requisite inter-personal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ideally you will have experience of railway operating/rolling stock design practice and maintenance.
  • Certified member of a professional body – IMechE, IET (desirable)
