Job Details

The Behind the Meter (BTM) Delivery Manager of the newly created Solar Development Business is responsible for delivering BTM Portfolios, starting from the late Development Phase where the contractual framework with the Client has already been negotiated, up to the handover to the Operations Asset Management Team, going through EPC negotiation, PPA negotiation, Construction and Preliminary Acceptance milestone.

Portfolios will be primarily based in the UK, but may include European opportunities.

Based in London, you will work closely with an experienced team across various disciplines: Business Development, Technical, Construction, Asset Management, Legal, M&A and will be expected to spend time in travelling across the UK (and potentially Europe) as required to deal with key stakeholders.

As the BTM Delivery Manager, you will be accountable for delivering BTM Portfolios guaranteeing the highest quality standards during the delivery of works and ensure compliance with the engagements made.  You will bring a proven track record in delivering projects, but also contributing to the internal processes, building them where required and helping to create an efficient business model reaching the expected profitability.

Your primary responsibilities will be to lead contract negotiations (Lease, PPA, EPC, Construction Management Service), contribute to project optimisation, due diligence (Land/Title, WHSE, KYC, ABC, Technical) and ensuring construction kick-off is managed effectively in terms of budget, time and quality. You will be required to resolve contractual and technical problems through effective collaboration with external parties, providing a deep and accurate knowledge of the project’s deliverables, including reporting and WHSE. In addition, you will conduct site visits (before and during construction) and liaise with construction and asset managers throughout the project execution phases.

To succeed in this role, you will have significant experience of working on solar C&I construction projects (experience in the UK is a must) with strong focus on the Construction Phase. Previous exposure to the Development phase including constraints analysis, grid connection process and permitting process is desirable. You will also have a demonstrable track record leading and managing complex solar projects (ground mounted and rooftop), including working alongside JV partners and other stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.

A degree in an Engineering or Technical discipline is essential, as is fluent written and spoken English, with European languages a bonus.

We believe in providing a positive environment for all our staff that is innovative and inspiring. For our female staff, Macquarie’s senior leaders are actively involved in increasing the representation of females in management positions.  In June 2014, we launched a mentoring programme for females, with the following two objectives:
