As an Analyst or Associate in our team, you will be involved in investment of the Macquarie Capital  balance sheet as principal in infrastructure projects and companies across Europe, encompassing both greenfield project development, including PPPs, and brownfield principal investments, including core+/value-add infrastructure, spanning the energy, transport, social and digital infrastructure sectors. The role is to join  the Infrastructure Projects and Principal team in London raising and negotiating committed external debt and balance sheet equity for infrastructure opportunities, building financial models, negotiating commercial contracts, conducting due diligence, market and industry research, preparing materials to support an transaction for both internal and external stakeholders and engaging professionally with our counterparties, such as industry partners and global co-investors, due diligence advisors and client representatives.

Recently the team has completed such transactions as the £1.2bn Silvertown Tunnel PPP project in the UK, and the acquisition of a Fibre-to-the-Home network from MasMovil in Spain, and won various industry awards such as Financial Advisor and Sponsor of the year (both for the second year running) at the 2020 Partnership Awards.

You will have an outstanding academic record and combine the knowledge obtained in your undergraduate degree (preferably in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or Law) with your previous experience (2-4 years) within the infrastructure and/or energy (excluding oil and gas) sectors in either Investment Banking, Project Finance, Project Development, Principal Investing, or an Infrastructure Fund to quickly make an impact. There is a strong preference for candidates with relevant principal investing experience within the digital/data infrastructure, core+/value-add, civil or social infrastructure sectors.

You will use your expertise in project finance modelling to evaluate performance under various operating scenarios to analyse the impacts of different capital structures. Your knowledge of all stages in infrastructure transaction execution, including origination, diligence, and execution of equity, debt, and M&A transactions will enable you to summarise and present the results in a succinct manner.

If you have experience of arranging and structuring equity or debt for greenfield infrastructure projects and/or brownfield infrastructure transactions, including core+/value-add infrastructure, in the energy, transport, social, digital infrastructure sectors, in a comparable organisation, we want to hear from you.

Working at Macquarie

We believe in providing a positive environment for all our staff that is innovative and inspiring. For our female staff, Macquarie’s senior leaders are actively involved in increasing the representation of females in management positions.  In June 2014, we launched a mentoring programme for females, with the following two objectives:

  • Address female retention rates at Senior Manager level and improve our diverse pipeline of talent;
  • Engage female Senior Managers by providing tools and support around their personal development;

The programme pairs up Senior Managers with Directors, who meet on a monthly basis, and are supported by active group sessions (bi-monthly) with an external facilitator.

We select some of the brightest minds to help us in solving complex challenges for our clients.  We recognise that recruiting talent from varied backgrounds is essential to improving our understanding of the marketplace, and enhancing creativity and problem-solving capabilities in our businesses.
