Who are Lloyds Banking Group?

We're on a mission to build the bank of the future, and we need your help to do it.

Continuing our extensive transformation programme, we're redefining what a bank is from the inside out. Our technology, our culture, and our mindset is changing to craft a true engineering-led organisation.

Become part of our diverse team, and you'll experience a rare opportunity to make a difference to the lives of millions through our brands like Halifax, Bank of Scotland, Lloyds, and Scottish Widows (among others).

Our flat teams will encourage and empower you to make decisions, build positive relationships, and deliver a meaningful difference to our customers, colleagues, and communities.

Our mentors will nurture your talent, and encourage you to further develop yourself and your career.

Where does the role sit within Lloyds Banking Group?

Intelligent Automation (IA) builds enterprise solutions for Lloyds Banking Group. Within that our lab, Digital and Intelligent Products provides a number of services:

  • Conversion of speech or voice to text and machine learning based comprehension.

  • Securely sending images of identity documents such as passports.

  • Customer document retrieval for GDPR.

  • Identity verification via facial recognition.

We've more than 50 people most of whom work within our four agile teams.

  • Two improve our existing offerings, or sometimes build entirely new products.

  • The third ensures the existing product set is operational, on-boards new value streams and increases reliability and supportability.

  • The fourth comprises our model building data scientists.

I hope you'll agree that there's a great opportunity here to turn a collection of parts into a well-functioning whole. We'd like this to be a lively environment to work in!

What will I focus on?

What follows is what you might find yourself doing as a Software Test Engineer on a day to day basis, but your role can be flexible depending on the team's needs, and your own aspirations. Our objective is to grow T- and π-shaped people, and create an environment where you can do what you enjoy.

  • You'll work within a diverse feature team directing the quality testing practices and informally guiding more junior colleagues within your team.

  • You'll write test automation scripts using Java and must have an intermediate level of coding skill.

  • You'll use your knowledge and experience of automated testing to design and implement an efficient strategy to prove the quality and value of your team's output.

  • You'll apply systems thinking to your approach to continuously improve the application of quality engineering within the team.

  • You'll work with our DevOps Engineers to maintain a continuous integration pipeline, and move towards continuous deployment.

What do we need to see from applicants?

We believe that people don't fit neatly into roles, and we value everyone's individual skills, experience, and knowledge - it's what makes you awesome!

As a minimum to be seriously considered we would need to see demonstrated experience of:

Having carried out a similar role previously, either as a software engineering who has focused on testing or as a test engineer who has learnt to code and automate scripts. Intermediate coding skill in Java. Doesn't think of food when we say Cucumber or Gherkin. Familiar working within a Agile project environment

As a senior member of the team would like to see people who are friendly and approachable to help support our more junior staff.

What support will I get and how will my career grow?

As a multi-brand, multi-channel business, we have the scale and breadth to provide you with a diverse range of training and development opportunities, helping you achieve a rewarding and fulfilling career.

Together we make it possible.

Company

We’re creating an organisation that attracts, retains and develops the best talent in the industry, and one that openly embraces diversity too. But more than that – we want to be a great place to work. We invest in our people, offering the best training and coaching, and by encouraging them to contribute to our leading corporate and social responsibility practices. We offer flexible working hours and days, under our Work Options scheme. This means that you can have a challenging and rewarding career, and still have an ideal work/life balance.

Flexible working is at the heart of our strategy. We’re re-imagining where, when, and how our people work, with new approaches designed to meet the ever-changing needs of customers and colleagues. These include increasing our use of remote-working tools and technology, as well as placing less reliance on a 9-to-5 mindset. For many of our office-based colleagues, we work in hybrid ways which involves spending at least two days per week or 40% of their time at one of our office sites.
