The Macquarie Capital Financial Control Team is a global advisory and financial control function providing transaction support for principal investments, ongoing transaction lifecycle management, and operational accounting and control functions in Macquarie Capital. We are looking for someone with your experience and background to join us.

In addition to global corporate M&A and advisory capabilities, MacCap also invests its own capital to enable new opportunities through the development and construction of infrastructure and energy projects, and in relation to renewable energy projects, the supply of green energy solutions to corporate clients.

The Financial Management Group provides strategic analysis and advice in relation to capital, funding, liquidity, tax and financial performance to support the growth of Macquarie’s businesses around the world. It ensures Macquarie continues to meet its financial, regulatory and tax reporting compliance obligations in the jurisdictions in which Macquarie operates. The Financial Management Group also maintains significant relationships on behalf of the Group, including a wide range of external stakeholders.

The Finance Division supports Macquarie's operating groups by providing financial management and control, regulatory reporting and business advisory services. In addition to centralised corporate functions such as Regulatory Reporting, Legal Entity Control and Tax Compliance, the division has dedicated business unit teams co-located with, and providing support to, each operating group. Finance operates in 28 locations globally.

The Macquarie Capital Financial Control Team is one of these dedicated business unit teams that sits within FMG but supports Macquarie Capital and we are looking for someone with your experience to join us.

The Macquarie Capital Financial Control is a global advisory and financial control function providing transaction support for principal investments, ongoing transaction lifecycle management, and operational accounting and control functions in Macquarie Capital.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • operational implementation of new investments, and discharge of sold investments
  • advise on and oversee funding structures for new and existing investments
  • implementation of financial control framework in new investments and businesses including financial integration of new businesses
  • oversight and review of regional balance sheets and P&L ensuring bookings are reflected appropriately and under the correct accounting standards
  • review of periodic equity accounting calculations and business valuations
  • determine recognition of fee and other income
  • oversight and review of external third-party accounting providers, ensuring bookings are reflected in line with Macquarie policy and decisions
  • liaison and oversight of offshore Business Unit Finance and Legal Entity Control teams, assisting with month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and statutory entity audits
  • review of statutory accounts
  • partnering with deal teams and other parts of Financial Management Group to advise on the financial implications of proposed transactions, with a primary focus on the accounting considerations
  • assist business partners to complete tax transfer pricing calculation and documentation
  • determination and preparation of FX hedging calculations.

 

You will have strong financial control experience developed in a chartered or commercial environment; previous experience in the financial services, infrastructure or renewables space; and a keen interest in developing knowledge across Macquarie and building on your technical accounting and controllership skillset.

 

We will expect you to be take accountability for managing your workload and exercise your initiative by following through on issues with minimal supervision. You will also be expected for have strong verbal and written communication skills and a strong client focused mind.
